Hobie Chamionship Tour #4 goes down in perfect Ponto

wsa 8 Nov 2007No Comments 322 views Print Email

We scored! The WSA headed to Ponto, South Carlsbad for the 4th event in the WSA/Hobie Championship Tour. WSA sponsor Surfline’s forecast was right on. The waves were incredible with head high plus lefts reeling off the jetty. This was the largest WSA in recent history with over 340 entries.

The beach was jammed with competitors, parents and friends all cheering each other on. We went from dawn ‘til dusk and even had to add a third area to accommodate all of the frothing groms showing up for our super popular MicroGrom and SuperGrom divisions. The friendly folks from SoCal Volvo were on hand to show off the 2008 Volvos and to burn hot dogs for the hungry hordes.

With six regular season events left, it’s not too late to surf five events and qualify for our West Coast Championships. Top rated competitors then go on to the Surfing America USA Championships and Team Trials. We head up the road a bit for our next event at Oceanside Harbor on December 2. Make sure you get online to register ‘cause this one is going to fill up fast! We had to turn away competitors at Ponto. If you register online we will get you in a heat.
