Central America and Mainland Mexico Short-Range Surf Forecast

This weekend into early next week we’re expecting a continuation of small to moderate SSW-SW (200-220) to continue.  Current energy ease Friday and then Saturday new SSW builds and should peak early next week with more waist to head high surf.  Long range models show the southern hemisphere is starting to warm up a little bit.  Read more for details?

The overlapping mix of SSW-SW (200-220) is expected to basically maintain a fairly consistent run of playful surf.  The current swell (205-215) eases into the weekend, and new SSW (200-210) arrives Saturday and builds to a peak Monday.  Overall that’s going to mean at least consistent knee to chest high+ waves along the exposed coast.  Standouts could be seeing head high-head high+ sets occasionally during the peak Monday and Tuesday.  Size will ease some through the middle of next week though.

North Pacific Swell Forecast

North Pacific quiets down a little bit.

South Pacific Swell Forecast

Long-range models show a potentially stronger storm developing in the South Pacific through the weekend.

The storm track has shown improvements over the past couple days pushing north as it passes below Easter Island.  The storm is going to be in the southerly part of the swell window (180-190), and could send some more consistent swell for around the 17th.

Following that initial storm we could see another stronger pulse, but the system looks closer to Chile, and that means a harder S-SSE (175-185) angle.  It will likely follow a couple days later.  After that the changing season looks like it could continue to produce, with a more SWerly (210-220) swell arriving around the 23rd maybe.

This is still really far out, but the long-range models show some reinforcing SSW-SW (205-215) showing up maybe around the 24th/25th.

Next long-range forecast expected for Tuesday the 13th of February
