HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif., Dec. 12, 2012 – With contestable conditions forecast by Solspot.com, the third and final event of the 2012 American Pro Surfing Series (APSS) will hit the south side of the Huntington Beach Pier this Saturday, December 15. The trifecta series kicked off with event #1 at the end of April, event #2 in September and the final event this weekend, which will solidify the series champion.
Created by industry veteran Scott Waring, the homegrown surf series offers an opportunity for domestic surfers to compete locally. A tempting prize purse and local bragging rights have drawn a bevy of the country’s most esteemed local surfers.
Going into the final event, Torrey Meister and Erica Hosseini lead the APSS rankings. However, the men’s race is still wide open with Meister unable to compete in event #3.
Confirmed men include: Chris Ward (2nd in series), Chris Waring (3rd in series), Kilian Garland (9th in series), Nate Yeomans, Michael Dunphy and Surfing America wildcard Kanoa Igarashi.
For the women, Erica Hosseini (1st in series), Meah Collins (2nd in series), Kaleigh Gilchrist (4th in series), Lisa Anderson (7th in series), and Surfing America wildcard Samantha Lamarind are confirmed.
The contest format is four-man heats with 50 percent elimination, starting with 32 men and 16 women. All surfers, except the ASP Top 34 World Title athletes, are welcome to enter.
